Mississippi Fight Sports Examiner | Brad Cooney

There is an awful lot of trash talk going on as of late. If Floyd was smart he would be more focused on his fight coming up against the very dangerous Shane Mosley rather than talking smack about Manny Pacquiao. Recently it has been reported by Rick Reeno of boxingscene.com that Floyd didn't even watch Manny's fight - http://http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=26070 Do we honestly believe that? Do we really believe that Mayweather didn't watch Manny's fight?

Mayweather goes on and on about PED's, and Manny being a one dimensional fighter, and this and that, blah blah blah. At the end of the day, Manny Pacquiao is the one who has stepped up and fought the best in the business. Manny Pacquiao is the sports pound for pound king, and Manny Pacquiao is the cash cow, and everyone in boxing knows it.

Pacquiao's legacy will speak for itself. He will go down as one of if not the best fighter of all time. So far he's got 7 division world titles. The historians will write that he took on all comers and not only defeated them, but destroyed them. Mayweather on the hand has a lot of work to do. Is Floyd skilled? Darn right he is, but that doesn't mean a thing when you don't fight the best. As of right now if the historians had to write up Floyd's legacy, it would say, Floyd was a guy who had a lot of boxing skills that dodged the best fighters in the sport. Floyd threw away up to 40 million dollars to avoid fighting the games pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao.

Mississippians who follow the sport for the most part do not like Floyd's antics, yet they do respect his talent in the ring. They do respect Floyd's defense and counter punching, but they do not respect his cocky ways, or his desire to rub his money in the nose of those who are less fortunate. Johnny King of Jackson, MS is a Floyd Mayweather fan. I ran into him at Last Call sports bar, after Pacquiao vs. Clottey concluded. He admitted that Pacquiao would be a very tough task for Mayweather. He also admitted that his favorite fighter has a thing or two to learn about respect and being humble. King talked about team Mayweather's steroid accusations, "It really seems as if the Mayweathers are jealous. I mean, why do they hold this much anger toward Pacquiao? What has Manny ever done to them? I am a big fan of Floyd Mayweather, but I do not respect how he has behaved throughout this whole ordeal."

One guy talks with his mouth, the other guy talks with his fists. Pacquiao talks with his fists. He simply never disrespects people. Mayweather talks with his mouth. Mayweather is no joke in the ring, the man can fight. Nobody is arguing that Floyd cannot fight. The argument is who Floyd is fighting. Floyd has one heck of a tough fight coming up against Shane Mosley. If he gets past Mosley, then we are in store for months of hype that will hopefully lead to the biggest fight of all time. Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather.
